Importing and exporting MIDI is an import feature within a DAW. It allows for quicker workflow by letting producers save or load chord progression, melodies, drum patterns, etc. to use in their songs with a click of a button.
Importing MIDI in FL Studio
To import MIDI in FL Studio:
- Open the Piano Roll on the instrument you want the MIDI load to
- Click The Arrow on the top left of the Piano Roll window
- Navigate to File -> Import MIDI File…
- Finally, select the MIDI file you wish to upload
The shortcut to steps 2 and 3 is to open the piano roll window and press CTRL+M (Command+M on MAC)

Exporting MIDI in FL Studio
To export MIDI in FL Studio:
- Open the Piano Roll on the instrument you want the MIDI load to
- Click The Arrow on the top left of the Piano Roll window
- Navigate to File -> Export as MIDI File…
- Finally, save the MIDI file
